Tauba Istighfar Dua: Supplications For Repentance
The Prophet(SAWW) said: Whoever says these words, Allah will forgive him, even if he flees from battle, These words(Istighfar) are:
اَسْتَغْفِرُاللّٰہَ الَّذِیْ لَآ اِلٰہَ اِلَّا ھُوَ الْحَیُّ الْقَیُّوْمُ وَاَتُوْبُ اِلَیْہِ
“I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Living, the Sustainer of the universe, and I repent to Him.”
Jami’ al-Tirmidhi, al-Dawa’at, Chapter on the supplication: Astaghfirullah, Hadith: 3397, and Sunan Abu Dawud, al-Witr, Chapter on the supplication, Hadith: 1517, and al-Mustadrak al-Hakim: 511/1, Hadith: 1884. When a person became a Muslim, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would teach him the Salah, then order him to supplicate with these words:
اَللّٰھُمَّ اغْفِرْلِیْ وَارْحَمْنِیْ وَاھْدِنِیْ وَعَافِنِیْ وَارْزُقْنِیْ
“O Allah! Forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, grant me health, and provide for me.”
Sahih Muslim, Al-Zhikr and Dua, Chapter Fadl al-Thalil and Tasbih, Hadith: 6849. It is narrated by Muslim that these words will gather for you your worldly and hereafter.
Rasulullah SAWW Said: There is (at times) some sort of shade upon my heart, and I seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times a day. Sahi Muslim 6858(Int 2702)
